21 Ideas To Take Care Of Yourself
Self-care is more than bubble baths and face masks, no matter what Instagram tells you! Therefore, I’ve divided these ideas into three categories – physical, emotional, and mental – to take care of yourself in the best possible way.
1. Physical Self Care
1. Put on a face mask
Starting with a basic self care tip : face masks. Apply your favorite natural face mask or do a full fledged skin care routine, if you have one. I love using this mud mask.
2. Light Some Candles
Simple ways to romanticize and fall in love with your everyday life. Candles make you feel more relaxed, energized, and present. While making your space smell better. I also love the concept of intention candles by Aroma Body Treats. Here’s a set of Sage & Lavender Candles on amazon.
3. Take a bubble bath
A bubble bath is the best way to unwind after a long day. Tone down and relax your mind and body. It also helps you sleep better. Here are some items I recommend,
4. Do Your Nails
Pretty nails make you feel more confident, comment down if you can relate! It’s definitely not necessary but you can add a nail spa appointment to your spring self care routine once in a while. Or do them at home using Morovan Nail Extension Kit.
5. Organize your closet
Go all Marie Condo on your closet. Sort your clothes into a keep and donate pile. Clean your closet and get ready to look cute this spring.
6. Plan your meals
Include meal planning in your spring self-care routine. Make a list of all the meals you want to prepare and go grocery shopping for the week. This allows you to stick to your diet rather than ordering takeout every other day.
2. Mental Self Care
7. Read
Put down your phones and pick up your favorite book. Kindle and all is great! But there’s something so calming about picking up a physical book. And staying away from your phone is a whole another challenge.
Here are some non fiction books that can be life changing for you. For fiction lovers, I recently read and enjoyed the murder mystery – One of us is lying.
8. Have an A.M. Routine
Work on yourself before you go out and work for others. Even if you just have 15 minutes to spare. Do Something that’ll foster your growth.
Here are a 8 morning routine ideas for you.
9. Revisit Your Goals
Hopefully, you set some new year goals at the start of this year. Now will be a good time to revisit them and track your progress. The more specific your goals are, the more likely you are to achieve them.
If you didn’t, set some now. Here are some goal setting templates from the 2022 Life Planner to help you set and analyze your goals.
10. Spend time on a hobby
It’s the simplest way to fill your cup. Spend more time doing things that recharge you. Perhaps you enjoy dancing, singing, or creating art. Make an effort to do more of it each week.
11. Get some sleep already
Ideally, you should sleep for at least 8 hours everyday. Most of our sleep schedules are messed up, I know. But now is a good time to get this organized. One simple hack – set your phones aside for 30 minutes before going to bed.
12. Meditate To Take Care Of Yourself
Try this – Close your eyes and concentrate on your breathing. If thoughts arise, allow them to pass without judgement. I use medito, a free app for guided meditations.
13. 30 minutes of movement everyday
It doesn’t have to be a gym workout (unless that’s your thing, then go for it!), you can simply go for a walk. I also enjoy yoga and dance workouts occasionally.
14. Have a dance party
Music can be a stress buster. And dancing on your favorite beats can easily lift your spirits. Create a Spotify playlist of your favorite songs. And have a mini concert in your bedroom!
Emotional Self Care
15. Good Vibes List
Create a list of things that make you happy. Such as dancing, playing with your pet, having a family dinner, going for a walk, or drinking your morning coffee. So the next time you have a bad day, you’ll know exactly what to do.
16. Journaling
Writing down your thoughts and feelings is the best way to declutter your mind. Do a brain dump if you’re feeling overwhelmed by emotions. You can take your self-care a step further by answering some self discovery journal prompts.
17. Start gardening
Spring is the best time to pick up this hobby. Become a plant mama. Bring some life and positivity into your space. Take care of your plants as a form of self-care.
18. Spend time with loved ones
What better way to fill yourself with love and gratitude than to spend time with your favorite people? Make plans for a family dinner or a night out with your girlfriends. Forget about your worries and focus on things you’re grateful for.
19. Strengthen Your Gratitude Muscle
Incorporate gratitude into your spring self care routine. Here’s a simple way to get started – write down 3 things you’re grateful for, everyday.
20. 10 Things You’ve Achieved This Winter
If you’re lacking confidence and self esteem, try this. Make a list of 10 things you’ve accomplished or overcome in the last 3-4 months. You give yourself far less credit than you deserve.
21. Plan Your Dream Vacay
This is something fun. I’m sure you have lots of places on bucket list. Pick one and start planning it. Better yet, make a budget to save for the trip this spring. Here are some templates from the free Planner printable.
